| To help gardeners learn the ins and outs of composting, Pike County Cooperative Extension will be holding a workshop on backyard composting, Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 10-11am at Farm Plus in Westfall Township. Registration will begin at 9:30am. Pre-registration is required by Thursday, September 18th. Each attendee will also be responsible to bring a chair to the presentation. | The Wayne County 9/11 Memorial Committee would like to remind area residents that Thursday, September 11, 2008 is the seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York City, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. September 11th has been proclaimed Patriot’s Day by the United States Congress and they have declared that all flags be flown at half-staff that day. The committee would like to ask that you observe a moment of silence at 9:00 am to honor those who perished in the attacks. Please wear red, white and blue to work or school to show support for those who lost their lives on 9/11/01 and to honor the heroes who worked to save them. In addition to the personal observance, the Committee will hold a silent gathering at the site of the Wayne County 9/11 Memorial located at the corner of Court and 9th Streets, Honesdale at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11. If you can not attend the morning gathering, you are invited to visit the memorial at any time to honor these very special people on this very memorable day.
